A Russian porcelain Easter egg, circa 1880. The slightly mottled, or duck’s egg, buff ground egg hand painted with multiple sprays of pink roses, rose buds, and foliage, a tiny ant in iron red glaze can also be seen among the foliage, in imitation of the tiny insects often shown on eighteenth-century enamels, porcelain, and glass with floral ornament. Height 3 ¾ in. (9.5 cm)
