A Russian gilded silver and champlevé enamel trompe l’oeil table box, St. Petersburg, 1870s. The exterior of the box chased and engraved in imitation of a wood cigar or cigarette box of the Laferm company with the tax stamps enameled in red-brown champlevé enamel and the firm’s label in blue, the interior gilded. Struck with Cyrillic initials AB or AE, possibly for Andrei Bragin, a St. Petersburg hallmark from the 1870s, and 88 silver standard. Gross weight 446 grams. 3 1/8 in. h x 4 5/8 in. w x 3 3/8 in. d (8 x 11.9 x 8.7 cm).
