A Russian silver cigarette case, St. Petersburg, 1908-1917. The exterior cast and chased in a sunburst pattern centering an applied 1766 poltina coin, the obverse, visible on the cover, with profile and inscription against translucent enamel over a hatched ground, the thumbpiece with gold-mounted cabochon sapphire, the interior gilded, struck with Cyrillic initials M.S, possibly for Mikhail Saet, workmaster’s mark and 84 silver standard. 3 7/8 x 2 ¾ in. (9.9 x 7 cm). Gross weight: 155 grams.
