A Russian silver trompe l’oeil table box, Sazikov, St. Petersburg, 1871. Formed as a wood box raised on intercrossed log feet, cast and chased in imitation of wood boards, the hinged lid with three elaborate trefoil hinges and hasp, the interior gilded. Struck with maker’s mark with Imperial warrant and 84 silver standard. 2 3/8 h x 3 ¼ w x 2 ½ d in. (6 x 8.1 6.7 cm). Weight 244 grams.
