A Fabergé Imperial presentation diamond-set varicolor gold 15th anniversary pendant locket, workmaster Michael Perchin, St. Petersburg, circa 1899. The heart-shaped pendant of yellow gold, the front entirely set with rose cut diamonds except for a cabochon glass covered circular aperture for a photo, the side engraved in Russian 18 10/V 84 g. 18 10/V 99 g. (May 10, 1884-May 10, 1899) inscribed XV let (15 years) in Russian against a branch of laurel, suspended from a cast and chased red gold Imperial crown set with rose cut diamonds. Struck with workmaster’s initials.
Length to top of crown: 1 in. (2.3 cm).
The recipient of this pendant locket remains unknown. It was most likely presented by a member of the Imperial family to a foreign royal, lady-in-waiting, or close friend on the occasion of her 15th wedding anniversary.
