A large Russian gilded silver and champlevé enamel Easter egg, Khlebnikov, Moscow, 1889. The exterior enameled with classical and Russian style ornament in shades of turquoise, periwinkle, navy blue, strawberry red, and opaque white including stylized flowerheads, anthemia, and diamond bands, all heightened with engraved beads or stippling, the upper half with the Paschal Greeting “Christ is Risen” (Khristos voskrese) in pre-1917 orthography, struck with maker’s mark and 88 standard.
