A Norwegian gilded silver and plique-à-jour enamel Dragon boat bowl, circa 1900. Formed as a medieval Viking longship, the prow with a dragon head, the mouth open to reveal a curled tongue, the stern with a scrolling, brightly colored tail, the body enameled with bands of brightly colored flower heads set within scrolling violet or yellow fields, the upper border with a row of stylized flowers in alternating shades of red and blue, raised on round foot of oyster plique-à-jour enamel with wires decorated in imitation of a dragon’s scales. Maker’s mark partially obscured. Dimensions: 3 x 6 in. (7.6 x 15.2 cm).
