A Russian gilded silver and cloisonné enamel box, Ovchinnikov, Moscow, 1899-1908. The round box with slip-on cover is decorated in the distinct pastel shades and Art Nouveau taste, a specialty of the Ovchinnikov workshops in the early 20th century, the cover and sides with stylized tulips and daisies in shades of pale lavender and lime set amongst interlace or swirling foliage against a cream ground, all within geometric, lappet, and beaded borders, the ornament on the cover and the borders heightened with applied gilt beads.
