A Russian silver gilt, cloisonné, and pictorial enamel cigarette case, Ovchinnikov, Moscow, 1883. The cover of the rounded rectangular case with an oval panel painted en plein with a view of a seated peasant youth playing a flute while a young girl looks on, the reverse with a similar oval panel decorated with a pair of stylized firebirds against an unusual black ground, both panels reserved against a stippled gilt ground with scrolling, polychrome floral ornament within borders enameled with stylized geometric ornament in turquoise and green against a black ground, with silver gilt pushpiece.
