A Russian Imperial cobalt blue glass Easter egg, 19th century. The handblown glass egg engraved & gilded on one side with a double-headed eagle with scepter & orb held in its talons, the opposite side with the Imperial cypher of Empress Elizabeth I within a heart-shaped cartouche surrounded by a wreath, the underside ground down evenly to allow for mounting or standing on one end. Height: 3 1/2 in. (9 cm).
