A Russian porcelain oyster dish from the Banquet Service of Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich, Imperial Porcelain Factory, period of Alexander II (1855-1881), circa 1860-1870. Decorated with gilded latticework borders & foliate scrolls outlined in red relieved by the crowned monogram of Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich (the future Emperor Alexander III), the shaped handle molded with gilt anthemia, the underside with gilt foot & with green & blue Imperial cipher factory marks for Alexander II, also with partially obscured gilt mark near the foot, probably that of a gilder. Length: 6 in. (15.2 cm).
