A Russian porcelain compote from the Mikhailovskii Service, made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, circa 1840. Of circular form, the outer bowl, rim, stem & foot gilded, the underside of the bowl decorated with a border of green & gilded arabesques. The service was made for the palace of that name, built for Grand Duke Michael Pavlovich, Alexander I & Nicholas I’s youngest brother. Dimensions: 3 1/2 in. height x 8 3/4 in. diameter (8.9 x 22.2 cm). Condition: Worn gilding & a few chips to the edge.
