A Russian porcelain pink ground Easter egg, second half of the 19th century. The large porcelain egg painted with sprays of brunnera, a plant that blooms with small blue flowers in spring throughout Russia, against a variegated magenta to pink ground, with the Paschal greeting “Christ is Risen” (Khristos voskrese) in gilt Cyrillic letters on side, the upper aperture with a gilt starburst. Height: 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm).
