Enamel > Shaded cloisonné enamel covered box by Agafonov

A Russian gilded silver and shaded cloisonné enamel, Vasily Agafonov, Moscow, circa 1900. The circular box raised on spreading foot and with slip-on cover, the sides enameled with stylized tulips and peonies and vines against a stippled gilt ground, the foot and cover with scrolling or geometric ornament against a turquoise ground within white beaded borders, the lid centered with a large gilt arrow and knop finial. Height 3 1/4  x 2 3/8 inches diameter at base (8.3 x 6 cm).
