An unusual Norwegian gilded silver and plique-à-jour enamel tea strainer, Marius Hammer, circa 1900. Formed as a five-pointed star, the curving arms exuberantly decorated with brightly colored scrolling motifs in cable borders and set with gilt beads, the pierced gilt bowl cast and chased in a swirling sunburst pattern, marked on the underside with maker’s mark and 900 silver standard. Diameter across arms: 4 3/8 in. (10.9 cm).
