A Russian gilded silver, shaded, cloisonné, & en plein (pictorial) enamel casket, 11th Artel, Moscow, 1908-1917. The body of the flared rectangular box decorated with multi-color scrolling floral, foliate & geometric patterns, the hasp & swing handles similarly decorated. The hinged cover with an en plein plaque depicting a scene inspired by the historicist paintings of Konstantin Makovsky & Sergei Solomko within a border of green vines & flowerheads, flanked on either side by stylized panels of scrolling flower & foliate motifs, the interior of the lid with translucent teal enamel over a wavy guilloché engine-turned ground. The mark partially cancelled in the manner of goods intended for export. Dimensions: 2 5/8 in. H x 6 in. W x 4 in. (6.8 x 15.2 x 10.1 cm).
