Description

An exceptional and rare Faberge bowenite and silver figural egg-shaped desk clock, workmaster Michael Perchin, St. Petersburg, prior to 1899 with original Faberge scratched inventory number 48434. The carved bowenite hardstone body mounted with rococo style gilded silver fittings including three ornately designed scroll feet, the circular clock face having black Roman numeral chapters against an opaque white enamel dial, surrounded by a gilded silver aperture of reeding tied with six rococo leaves; the aperture further adorned with additional ornate scrolling around its edges.  The clock movement by H. Moser & Ce., further lettered on the dial. Also with its original winding key. Struck with Faberge, workmaster’s marks, 84 and 88 Russian silver standard, assay mark for St. Petersburg and Faberge original scratched inventory number. Height: 2.5 in. (6.4 cm).
