A jeweled gold Imperial Presentation gold & enamel box, Charles Collins & Söhne, Hanau, circa 1850. Of cartouche form with bombé sides, the lid centered with a circular plaque enameled translucent royal blue over a radiating engine-turned ground applied with the diamond-set crowned cypher ofGrand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich, later Emperor Alexander II, within raised & engraved fretwork intertwined with ivy, the sides engraved with conforming ornament, the underside raised on shaped foot & engraved with an identical fretwork & ivy design as that on the cover & centering a ribbon-tied bouquet, contained in a velvet-lined box forFriedrich Butz, St. Petersburg, with stamp noting the firm were Purveyors to Tsarevich Alexander Alexandrovich, Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, & Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna. The base of the interior stamped with marks for Colins Söhne marks, the exterior of the flange stamped 4610 on the right & scratched 4610 at left. Width 3 ½ in. (8.7cm).
