A Russian porcelain Easter egg with scenes of the Resurrection & Annunciation, mid-nineteenth century. The egg in the Neo-Rococo taste, with figural scenes reserved within molded Rococo borders of scrollwork, gilded & silvered, against a navy blue ground with gilt ornament, decorated on one side with a scene of the Annunciation to Mary with the Angel Gabriel approaching at right & the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, the young woman shown startled & interrupted at her prayers, the opposite side with the Resurrection, with the angel who has rolled away the stone from the tomb visible at left & one of the soldiers who trembles in fear visible at right, with Christ shown at center in a red mantle within a burst of light rendered in gilding.
