A set of eight Russian gilded silver and niello serving spoons, Vasily Semenov, Moscow, 1869. The backs of the ovoid bowls with views of St. Basil’s, Moscow Kremlin towers and churches in niello, reserved against a gilt lower border finely engraved with scrolling ornament, the flat fiddle handles with conforming decoration and circular reserves for initials (un-engraved) on the back. The reserves on the front of the spoons engraved with Cyrillic initials ZhV. Struck with maker’s marks and 84 silver standard. Length 7 ¾ in. (19.5 cm). Gross weight of all spoons: 362 grams.
