A Russian silver trompe l’oeil table box, Sazikov, St. Petersburg, 1871. Formed as a wood box raised on intercrossed log feet, cast & chased in imitation of wood boards, the hinged lid with three elaborate trefoil hinges & hasp, the interior gilded. Struck with maker’s mark with Imperial warrant & 84 silver standard. 2 3/8 h x 3 ¼ w x 2 ½ d in. (6 x 8.1 6.7 cm). Weight 244 grams.
