Description

A Russian porcelain figurine of a shepherd boy, Kornilov Brothers, St. Petersburg, 1843-1861. In the style of Jacob Petit, the shepherd boy shown seated on a tree stump holding his pipe in his hand, with his dog at his feet & his crook resting against the stump. His clothing ornamented with profuse gilt ornament. The underside with iron red factory mark. Factory, ST Petersburg, mid-19th century. The boy, depicted sitting on a tree stump, holding a clarinet with both hands, the boy’s herding dog sits by his feet, his bright costume ornately decorated with gilded detailing. Height: 9 3/4″ (24.7 cm).
