A Russian gilded silver, shaded cloisonné, guilloché, & en plein (pictorial) enamel casket, 11th Artel, Moscow, 1908-1917. Oblong, on four bracket feet, the sides with roundels enclosing multi-color stylized flower-heads among foliate scrolls & strapwork, the corners with stylized flowers against a light blue ground, the cover of the hinged lid with a matte en plein enamel plaque depicting a troika in a winter landscape within a geometric motif border, the interior of the cover enameled in translucent turquoise over a wavy guilloché ground. Struck with maker’s mark & 84 silver fineness standard (equivalent to 875), the hallmark canceled, indicating that the item was exported before 1917. Dimensions: 2 1/4 in. H x 6 in. W x 3 3/4 in. D (5.7 x 15.2 x 9.5 cm).
