A fine portrait miniature of a Russian Grand Duchess, probably late 19th or early 20th century. The young woman shown wearing a gold-embroidered green silk dress with lace sleeves & wearing the sash of the Order of St. Catherine, an ermine mantle, & small crown, her brown hair arranged in curls, signed with a monogram at right. Contained in Neo-Classical style gilt metal frame with crossed arrows & torches tied by ribbon with branches of laurel & olive, the back set with suspension ring & strut.Miniature alone: 2 5/8 in. h x 2 1/8 in. w (6.7 x 5.4 cm).
