A Russian gilded silver & cloisonné enamel tea caddy, Ivan Saltykov, Moscow, circa 1895; of traditional square form with domed shoulders & slip-on lid; enameled in turquoise over an pattern of scrolling filigree work, each side highlighted with a “window” of thin white opaque enamel lines, all within white beaded borders, the lid decorated en suite; the interior fitted with a gilded silver mounted cork stopper, the lid centered with a silver gilt shield engraved with a scrolling italic surname Madlenerin Latin letters. Struck with maker’s mark & 84 standard. Height 5 1/2 in. (14 cm), width 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm).
