A Russian pictorial & cloisonné enamel & gilded silver snuff or powder box, 11th Artel, Moscow, 1908-1917. In the Russian style, of cushion form, the hinged lid with an image of a Russian beauty wearing a jeweled kokoshnik, veil, & numerous necklaces, painted on a matte enamel plaque, the body enameled with a row of colorful lappets about the opening, with a band of brightly-colored flower heads against stippled gilt ground relieved by bands enameled in purple translucent enamel with applied scrolling cloisons, the underside with a brightly colored stylized star. Struck with maker’s mark & a hallmark with the letter X stamped on the kokoshnik, a mark used on items exported from Russia before 1917. Diameter: 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm).
