Description

A Russian gilded silver & guilloché enamel salt, Egor Pankratiev (or Pankratieff), Saint Petersburg, 1908-1917. The circular bowl with tapering sides on three shaped bracket feet, enameled in a pale translucent mauve over an engine-turned ground. 88 silver standard. Dimensions: 1 1/8 inches H x 1 7/8 inches D (2.9 x 4.8 cm). Gross weight 35 grams.
There is relatively little known about the goldsmith & enameler Egor (Grigory) Pankratiev (Егор [Григорий] Григорьевич Панкратьев); works with his marks indicate that he produced objects with guilloché, champlevé, & cloisonné enamel. His mark appears together with that of Fabergé as well as the Grachev Brothers, indicating that both firms retailed pieces from his workshop. Examples of his work in guilloché are held in the Fabergé Museum in St. Petersburg.
