An exceptional & unusual Russian silver gilt & champlevé enamel icon egg, made by Alexander Petrov for Grachev Brothers, St. Petersburg, prior to 1899. Ovoid in shape, mounted on its original silver & enamel base; the body enameled in vibrant blue, the gilded interior with a removable icon showing the Resurrection of Christ finely painted in oil. Height: 3.5 in. (9 cm).
