An engraved Russian silver Easter egg with stands, Andrei Aleksandrov, Moscow, circa 1895. The exterior of the egg bright engraved with hearts and geometric ornament recalling the carved wood ornament on window surrounds and eaves of traditional Russian homes, the egg unscrewing to reveal a gilt interior holding two baluster-form stands which can be attached to make two egg cups. Struck maker’s mark and 84 silver standard. Height of egg alone: 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm); height of egg on one stand: 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm). Gross weight: 95 grams.
