An engraved Russian silver Easter egg with stands, Andrei Aleksandrov, Moscow, circa 1895. The exterior of the egg bright engraved with hearts & geometric ornament recalling the carved wood ornament on window surrounds & eaves of traditional Russian homes, the egg unscrewing to reveal a gilt interior holding two baluster-form stands which can be attached to make two egg cups. Struck maker’s mark & 84 silver standard. Height of egg alone: 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm); height of egg on one stand: 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm). Gross weight: 95 grams.
