A Russian gilded silver & shaded cloisonné enamel belt buckle, Moscow, circa 1895. Shaped rectangular, enameled with brightly-colored stylized tulips & scrolling ornament against a duck’s egg pale mauve within an ogee-shaped cable border, all reserved a pale mint green ground of filigree enamel. Struck with Cyrillic maker’s mark S.B within a rectangular incuse of an unrecorded Moscow silversmith-jeweler, also with later retailer’s scratched inventory number 4856. 2 1/8 x 2 ½ in. (5.3 x 6.5 cm).
